Courses and Events

The Cornish Willow workshop, on the edge of Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, produces hand-made baskets, sculptures and garden items, each skillfully crafted.

From cutting and drying the willow to the processes involved in shaping each basket and bowl, the care taken here is a wonderful tribute to traditional rural crafts.

You can see hand-made willow products to buy on the Cornish Willow website www.cornishwillow.co.uk

Willow plant supports

Sunday 18th April 2010 – 10am to 4.30pm

£35 per person, includes materials

These wigwams can fit nicely into large pots or add height to your borders during the summer months. Ideally suited for growing annual climbers such as sweet peas, they can be made in a variety of heights and sizes.  During a one day course students will usually be able to make two plant supports.

Frame Baskets

Saturday 8th OR Sunday 9th May 2010 – 10am to 4.30pm

Cornish willow frame basket£40 per person, includes materials

Frame baskets are made on hoops which are tied together with fine willow.  Ribs are then inserted into the basket and willow is woven across this framework.  These are good baskets to make if you grow your own willow as both thick and thin willow is needed.
