Some walk routes:
Access to the countryside
Before you set out to explore the countryside and find those special views check that you know the best starting point and your route.
The parish church is often a good place to park. Many footpaths originally brought villagers and country dwellers to church, and these paths are mostly still in use. Some of our parishes now have leaflets about their local walks, and village shops and post offices will also be a source of information - as well as those important snacks to nibble along the way!

The Countryside Code
The Countryside Code gives important advice about access to the countryside.
Most of it is just good common sense, as it is designed to help us all to respect, protect and enjoy our countryside.
The key messages are:
- be safe - plan ahead and follow any signs
- leave gates and property as you find them
- protect plants and animals, and take your litter home
- keep dogs under close control
- consider other people
